Mr. Luscombe is currently the Low Brass Instructor at the University of Mississippi. Past faculty roles have included adjunct positions at the University of Memphis, Murray State University, Union University and Southwest TN. Community College. He maintains an active private studio in the Memphis area and does variety of freelance playing. Since 1997, he has spent two weeks each summer serving on the faculty of The Masterworks Festival which takes place at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.
Mr. Luscombe's past private teachers have included Per Brevig (formerly of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, New York), Jay Friedman (Chicago Symphony), Art Sares (former NBC staff musician, Chicago), Dee Stewart (Indiana University), Ed Zadrosny (University of Akron). He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Akron and post graduate credits toward the DMA at Indiana University and North Texas State University.
Greg is married to Beth Luscombe, a member of the MSO viola section, and has two teenage girls, Sara, 18 and Julia 13.
In addition to his long-standing career with the Memphis Symphony, Mr. Luscombe has performed and recorded with the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony and the Mexico City Philharmonic. Prior to his arrival in Memphis Mr. Luscombe was a member of the Ohio Chamber Orchestra (former orchestra for Cleveland Opera and Ballet) and was principal trombonist of the Canton Symphony (Canton, OH). In the Cleveland, Ohio area, he was also active as a theater and studio musician.
Mr. Luscombe has been featured as a soloist on the Masterworks and Pops Series and served for two seasons as the Orchestra Personnel Manager. He has also been a part of the MSO's 'Mission and Vision' committee, which has helped redefine the orchestra's future.
