Susan Enger began playing the cornet at age 11. After attending Interlochen Arts Academy, Ms. Enger received her Bachelor of Music degree at Northwestern University. She studied with trumpet legend Vincent Cichowicz (1927-2006), who was her most influential musical mentor. Prior to joining the Memphis Symphony, Ms. Enger was Principal Trumpet with L'orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, CBC Radio Orchestra (Quebec), Les Violins duRoy and Associate Principal Trumpet with Montreal Symphony.
