Canadian flutist Todd Skitch joined the Memphis Symphony in 1997. After completing degrees at the University of Toronto and McGill University in Montreal, Mr. Skitch performed with Canadian orchestras including the Niagara Symphony, the Kitchener/Waterloo Symphony, the Windsor Symphony and the National Ballet of Canada. He also travelled to many summer festivals like Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony), Blossom (summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra), where he was awarded the Maurice Sharp Award for outstanding flute applicant, Spoleto USA in Charleston, Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, the National Reptertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado, the Sarasota Chamber Music Festival and the Banff Center for the Arts. His favorite flute players are Timothy Hutchins, Christina Smith, Joanna G'Froerer and Emmanuel Pahud.

Todd loves to teach and play chamber music. He Perfoms with Fast Fourward, a woodwind quartet, Trillium, a flute and harp ensemble and the Iris Chamber Orchestrawhich he joined as a Principal Flutist in its first season in 2000. Todd instructs flute at Lane Music in Germantown where he highly recommends Jupiter and diMedici flutes. Mr. Skitch has been heard on CBC radio -Canada, WKNO, in recital with the Memphis Chamber Society and as a soloist with both the Memphis Symphony and Iris chamber Orchestra..

Todd is a vicious Scrabble player and enjoys fitness (running/yoga/lifting), reading, the New Yorker magazine, NPR, comic books, PS2, the Montreal and Atlanta Symphonies, cooking, Coh/Cov/MMORPGs, Comedy Central, HBO, TLC, Bravo, HGTV, Marshall's, intelligent conversation and liberal thinking, movies, travelling, summers in Canada and his two cats Buddy and Holly.
